Checkers and Coffee

This weekend was way too short!

Saturday started out with an amazing breakfast made by JP. He makes breakfast almost every weekend. Pancakes are the usual but this time we had eggs, toast, raspberries and bacon. Yummmm!!! After breakfast I caught up with a friend for coffee and JP went golfing.

Later in the day Opheliac and I met up for a little Saturday shopping. We headed to the closest mall for some summer sales. Of course we had to make Aritzia one of our first stops. Somehow I only managed to buy a white t-shirt and some jeans, but Opheliac left the mall with so many amazing finds!

My outfit was pretty casual. It was really hot out, but I knew that I would also be inside for a portion of the day so I wore a light long sleeved button up shirt from J. Crew, cut off shorts, and some comfy moccasins.

Dandelions and Kittens

posted on: Sunday, June 27, 2010

A couple weekends ago I met up with some friends from university for brunch. It was so good to finally get to see them again and to catch up. We are all animal lovers, and I especially love cat, so after our brunch we walked over to a pet store to play with some kittens.

After playing with the kittens I met up with Opheliac. JP (my fiance) always has band practice on Sundays so it is the perfect day for Opheliac and I to get together and plan adventures. This time we decided to find out how to get to the train tracks. We discovered a little dirt road that looked like it lead to the tracks so we set out driving down it. We didn't get far before there was a chain across the road. We parked and started to walk the rest of the way. As soon as the tracks became visible we noticed that there was already a couple getting engagement photos done in the exact spot we were thinking of taking photos. We decided to leave the train tracks for another time and took some photos a little ways up the road instead. There ended up being a perfect field of dandelions and a little pond, so our adventure turned out in the end.

Layers and Clouds

I've been meaning to post all week but somehow I've been so busy! Time just seems to fly by.

These are some photos from my second shoot with Opheliac!

These photos are from the end of May. It was such a dreary, cold and rainy month! It was absolutely freezing out while were were taking these photos but we couldn't let the weather stop us. It was actually a good opportunity to dress up in layers. I love cardigans and jackets, so sometimes I don't mind a little wind and rain.

Old Possum's Book Of Practical Cats

Opheliak and I met up for our traditional Sunday get together. This time, instead of grabbing a coffee and taking a walk in a park we decided to check out a famers market and a book sale that my brother told us about.

I picked up a really cute book of poems about cats by T.S Eliot and a couple of cook books because I'm a terrible cook. One book was for entertaining and the other was about different spices. Hopefully I'll be able to get inspired! Afterwards we wandered around and looked at a couple of thrift stores.

Tie-Dye and Sunshine

Today was a pretty great Saturday. JP (my fiance) went white water rafting for a bachelor party early this morning, so I decided to spend the day with my mom. We met up at the tanning salon, then grabbed coffees for ourselves and my brother. We went back to my parents house, sat in the sun and sipped out coffees. It was such a beautiful day.
I picked up a set of three flower pots yesterday so my mom and I decided to plant some flowers in them while we were hanging out. Later my little sister came home from a birthday party and she wanted to take some silly pictures together. She can be pretty hilarious sometimes.
JP and I met up for dinner at one of our favourite places, Badass Jacks. They have the most amazing wraps there! I decided to change my outfit slightly for dinner. I traded my gold elephant chain for several small silver chains. I also decided to wear my hair down.

Rainy Day

Second post!

So, I've been preparing for this blog for a little while. I wasn't sure if I would be able to actually take photos of myself because I can be extremely shy sometimes. I bought a tripod and attempted to take some outfit photos on my own but ended up psyching myself out. I drove around and around trying to find the perfect secluded spot. I would park, stare off into an empty field, try to muster up the courage to take some outfit shots, but just couldn't do it.

One time I even got out of my car, set up my tripod, then realized that my battery was dead! I looked up and a security guard was walking towards me! He told me he was going to confiscate my camera but I jumped in my car, locked the doors and sped off.

The second time I attempted to take some photos I walked off into the trees in a large park close to my house. I thought I was pretty well hidden so I could experiment with my camera but every few minutes someone would trek up to where I was and ask what I was taking photos of. I just told them I was getting the light shining through the trees. All I ended up with that day was one shot of the light coming through the trees.

Lucky for me one of my best friends went to school for photography and she offered to do photos for me!! So, here are the photos from our first shoot together.
This shoot was so much fun! We have been trying to spend more time together so this was the perfect solution. We grabbed some coffees and drove down to a nearby park called Fish Creek (the same park where I ended up with the photo of the trees). We decided to explore a section of the park that we don't usually go to. We found a cute bridge and a barn.

We went for a walk first, but by the time we were ready to start taking photos it started to rain! We ended up ducking under the bridge for shelter and took a few photos there by the water. On our way back to the car we decided that we had to take a few pics at the barn. We quickly jumped the fence to run to the barn for a few shots there.

Thanks Opheliac for taking some amazing photos!

First Post

Well, this is my first post ever. I am completely nervous to do this. I've always had a slight issue with people reading what I write, but I'm trying to get over all my fears, so here goes nothing!!

I've been thinking about starting a blog for awhile now, but I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted to post about and if I wanted anyone else to read it. Then a few months ago I came across personal style blogs and fell in love! I knew that I had to try it out. My favourites are the ones that also incorporate a little bit of what is happening in their day-to-day lives. I like the idea of having a documentation of my life to look back on. I also like the idea of documenting my life in photographs and outfits.

So here is my personal style/life in general blog!

Enjoy,

Ash
