NYX | Blush in Pinched and Lip Gloss in Beige

A couple months ago my parents went on a trip to Atlanta and I asked them to pick me up a few things from Ulta. I had been hearing a lot about the NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Beige as well as the NYX blush in Pinched but had no luck finding them in Calgary. I'm really glad that I sent my parents out looking for these two items because I am really happy with them.

NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Beige
This is my first NYX lip gloss so I'm not sure how it compares to the other colours but I like that there is no glitter or sparkle, it glides on smooth, and it isn't sticky or tacky. I do have to be careful with the amount of product I put on because it can get a bit gloopy on me. I do have small lips though, so I often have to be a bit careful with the amount of lip gloss on the applicators. I have heard that NYX lip glosses are hit or miss, but I adore this one. Don't let the name fool you, it is definitely not a beige colour but is more of a pinky/mauve.

NYX Blush in Pinched
In the photo below I packed on the colour because I didn't know how well it would show up in the photo. Usually I wear this blush more subtly. The colour is a beautiful pink with a hint of coral and a bit of gold glitter. The blush is fairly pigmented and the texture is quite soft and easy to work with. I also love the quilted design of the blush.

Lately Vol. 8

I haven't done a "Lately" post in a while, so here is what's been going on in my life according to my iPhone. The last couple months I have spent many hours in coffee shops studying and chatting, I made a DIY studded t-shirt, and I've tried to make it to most of JP's summer hockey league games. I attended the opening of the J.Crew store at Chinook Centre, and celebrated KD's one year anniversary of her heart surgery. Linda made the most amazing heart shaped cake for the party (stop by her blog The Mavric to read all about how she made it!). I also received my second package from Joe Fresh for the Style Ambassador program and can't wait to put together outfits with the items I got! I've been obsessing over beauty products lately and went on a shopping spree with my Shoppers Optimum points. Finally, the Seaweeze half-marathon is coming up in four weeks so I've been trying to stick to my running schedule, but it's definitely been hard with school.

Cream to Purple

I wore this outfit a few weeks ago to my brothers convocation. This skirt actually used to be a nice light cream colour. It ended up with stain on it and I couldn't get it out so I decided to try dying it. It was a complete gamble dying the skirt because it's silk, but I decided to try it anyway. I picked black dye and this is how it turned out. I'm not really sure why it turned purple but I'm happy with the end result. The dye didn't take to the lining and the stitching so they actually are still a cream colour with a hint of pink now, which I also kind of like. You can check out some before photos of the skirt here.
