Fashion Industry Mixer

Last Wednesday I attended a Fashion Industry Mixer held at the Gerry Thomas Gallery. It was a great opportunity to network with other Calgarians who enjoy fashion and art. I met some amazing people, and also got to reconnect with some of the other Calgary bloggers I met back in December. Here are some photos I rounded up from the evening.

Be Mine

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
These photos are from Saturday. Not the most romantic outfit, but at least I'm wearing red for my Valentine's Day post, right? Friday and Saturday were spend running errands for the wedding. No surprise there. Six days left until we leave. I am so excited that I can't sleep at all.
JP and I decided to go out for our Valentine's dinner on Sunday night. We just went to a Moxie's near us that had been recently renovated. It was so nice and quiet. We never get dessert when we go for dinner, so we thought we would treat ourselves to the white chocolate brownie. When we got it it was cut into the shape of a heart. So cute!
Because we did the Valentine's Day thing on Sunday, I wasn't expecting anything today. JP and I are usually not very good at celebrating holidays. I came home to dinner cooking, a heart shaped box of chocolates and apples pie! I was ridiculously excited. I love little surprises. I bought JP a beer mug that said "You Rock My World".
I really have no idea what I was so excited over in the photo. lol

Earlier today I received an email from my aunt saying that she noticed I finally register at the Bay for wedding presents. I was really confused because I didn't do a gift registry. A couple hours later I got an email from the Bay updating me on my registry list! I went to look at the list and it was chock full of the most expensive kitchen supplies/appliances available! There was even a DISHWASHER on the list. I was baffled. I ended up calling the Bay to cancel the registry. I'm still wondering how it all happened.

New Hair

Today I got my hair done for the upcoming wedding, and I am so in love! My hair dresser put a ridiculous number of highlights in, resulting in this lovely "Ash Blonde" colour. It looks a little (maybe even a lot...) lighter in this photo than it actually is in real life.

Anyways, I've been having the most klutzy/forgetful week of my entire life. I left the lights on in my car resulting in a dead battery, I bumped into the blueberries at the grocery store - blueberries were everywhere! I left my phone and swipe card at home when I was going into work early, so I had to wait for someone  to come and let me in, AND I lost my debit card. My goodness. Even with all the mayhem, I had a wonderful week. S and I hosted a Valentine's Day waffle breakfast at work yesterday and it was a smash hit! We got to work extra early and made pink waffles with pink whipped cream, strawberries, blueberries, and cinnamon. It was the perfect start to the day before a long weekend. <3

Decisions...

OK, so I know that I said I would be more present on the blog, but I've been ridiculously busy again. It has been a crazy whirlwind the last few weeks. There has been a wedding shower,  a bachelorette party, Eating Disorder Awareness Week events, and a fashion mixer. Phew. Not to mention last minute workouts, dress fittings, and a zillion other appointments. Still on my list if "to do's" is, buy more luggage, a hair appointment, nail appointment, pedicure, and pick up my wedding day make-up. I was lucky enough that my bridesmaids decided to surprise me by taking me out for a make-up trial at MAC, and then afterwards bought me the eye shadows and a new brush. Now I need to make a decision on foundation.
I've been eyeing up these two foundations for quite some time now. At first I was dead set on getting Estee Lauder Double Wear, but then I discovered Chanel Mat Lumiere. I decided to try out a tester of each. Right now I'm leaning towards the Chanel, but I've read so many positive reviews of brides who wore Double Wear for their wedding day. Has anyone else tried either of these two foundations? I would love to hear your feedback!

Hopefully I will get to some posts on the shower, bachelorette and mixer soon! Thanks for all your continuous support.

Blogger Swap

In my last post I mentioned that Mikhaila of From Aprons to Polka Dots (formally All the Pretty Birds Vintage) and I did a little clothes swap. She sent me a dress (which I will post photos of soon!), and I sent her my purple AA skirt. Here is how she styled it. I love how she kept it casual, and I love the little boots that she paired with it. A day at the beach, even in the winter looks wonderful! I can't wait for my turn to hit the beach. 19 more days!
Here are a couple photos of how I styled the skirt in the past. I can't wait to see what else Mikhaila comes up with!
