Sunday Excursions

Whoa, sometimes it feels like I blink my eyes and weeks have disappeared! I meant to get this post out sooner, but somehow life always seems to get so busy and takes me away from blogging. 

A couple weekends ago my cousin and I decided to check out Market Collective. I love finding unique locally made art, jewellery, clothes and so on at Market Collective. Last time I bought a couple photographs by Amy Victoria Wakefield, this time i bought a sweat shirt by CAMP clothing. I have literally been living in it since! The first thing I do when I'm home now is put on my CAMP sweat shirt. 

So, I'm completely obsessed with the Hunger Games right now! I wanted to wait to read the books until after I saw the movie, but JP and I weren't proactive enough to buy tickets to the movie, so I broke down and started reading on the weekend. I'm halfway through the second book! Sooooo good! Has anyone else read the books or seen the movie? What did you think?

Butter

Last Thursday I attended the media launch party for the beauty parlour, Butter, by the creators of Hedkandi Salon. The space was inviting and absolutely gorgeous, and the staff were friendly and warm. We were able to try out any of the services that Butter offered including waxing, pedicures and manicures. I chose to get a blowout.

The space was set up to feel more like you are at a good friends house getting ready for a night out, rather than a hair salon or spa. I really loved this concept, and my cousin and I thought it would be the perfect place for a girls night out, a staggette or for a bridal party to get ready together before a wedding. 

Of course, one of the best parts of the opening was the appetizers provided by Wurst, which is the neighbouring restaurant.

Movie Night

I love hanging out with my cousin Lesley, so I'm not sure why we see each other so infrequently. This weekend we made up for lost time by spending nearly the entire weekend together. We both hadn't seen The Vow so that was our plan for Saturday evening. Afterwards we headed back to my place for chit chat, pizza, and wine. 

Here is what I wore to the movies. I felt a little over dressed, but after a week of dressing down to teach elementary fitness I couldn't wait to put on some silk and (faux) leather.

Love to Swap

The last week and a half has been absolutely crazy for me! PARKSHOW last weekend was so much fun, but after the show I was burnt out. I didn't have much time to recover because I was teaching classes on nutrition and exercise in elementary school all week. I have so much respect for teachers after starting this job! It is definitely a lot of work lesson planning, talking non-stop and being active with kids all day. To recover from a hectic week I spent the weekend relaxing and hanging out with my cousin. I have a few more pictures from the weekend that I will share later this week. 

On to the outfit. I received this dress from Mikhaila recently who initially picked it out at the NY ModSwap in September. The part of blogging that is quickly becoming my favourite thing is swapping! Swapping with fellow bloggers, going to local swaps, attending swap events in other cites! I really like to see how someone's own style shines through when they wear the same item as someone else. I think it's a great way to build your wardrobe on a budget too.

White Lace

This is the outfit I wore on mine and JP's anniversary back in February. We decided to bring a touch from our wedding week to our anniversary day so I wore my rehearsal dinner dress and JP wore his suit jacket. We were going to see a movie but we couldn't find a movie that we both wanted to see (He refused to see  The Vow and I refused to see Goon, ugh). We ended up buying leather jackets and then heading to The Keg for dinner.  Just a low key day spending quality time together. Sometimes those are the best kind of  days.

Marni for H&M

Marni for H&M is out in stores tomorrow (March 8th) and Calgary's H&M in the Core is one of the lucky stores to carry the spring designer collaboration. Will any of you be lining up to get your hands on any Marni for H&M pieces tomorrow? I personally will not be able to line up early because I have to work, but here are a couple pieces that have caught my eye. I think the sequinned collars would be a fun touch to so many outfits!

February Photo A Day

I decided to participate in the February photo a day challenge on Instagram. I think it's a really neat way to capture the month and fun to look back on later. It's also fun to look through everyone else's photos and compare how they interpret the challenger per day. You would think that one photo a day wouldn't be too hard, but sometime I would procrastinate taking the photo and then forget, or just forget all together. I planned on taking on the March photo a day challenge, but I haven't started yet and it's already day five.
