Bachelorette - Part Two

posted on: Sunday, March 6, 2011

The second half of my bachelorette party was amazing. My friend Mel had a bunch of my friends over for an evening of wine sampling and appetizers. There were stations set up around the house with different types of wine organized by region. Of course they had to dress me up in a crazy bachelorette get-up. Later we played silly bachelorette games. A limo then picked up the group and we headed downtown for some photos on Stephen Ave. and at Hotel Arts. The limo then dropped off the group at Mercury, a club/lounge in Calgary's Uptown. The night ended with a few of us heading back to my cousin's apartment for some late night pizza.

The outfit I had in mind for my bachelorette was more of a fun, colourful party dress, accessorized by bows or flowers. Something really girly. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything remotely like what I imagined myself wearing. I never noticed how long it takes stores to get new stock in after Christmas and New Years. All the the stores I visited seemed to have the same sale items week after week. I finally settled on a little black dress from Guess. You can never go wrong with a little black dress. The tights I wore were so fun! I initially thought that they were just a purple patterned tight, but when I put them on I was surprised to see that the back was solid purple.

Bachelorette | Part One

So, before I post photos from the wedding I thought that I should probably post some bachelorette photos first.

I seriously have the best friends in the world. My bachelorette party was everything I could have asked for. Ashley of Opheliac called me the morning of and told me that she was picking me up for breakfast and to pack a bag because I wouldn't be going home until the next morning. I scrambled to pack up what I thought I would need for the day and the next morning.

Breakfast was at my cousin's downtown apartment. She made a wonderful quiche and fruit salad with greek yogurt. It was amazing. Afterwards the girls surprised me with a trip to the MAC store where they treated me to a wedding make-up trail.
I was planning on surprising Ash and my cousin with eyeshadows from MAC as bridesmaid presents, but they beat me to it. I guess great minds really do think alike. After the make-up trail we headed back to my cousin's apartment to get ready for an evening out. The next stop was my friend Mel's house, where she had a little party planned.

Sea of Scarves

posted on: Thursday, March 3, 2011

While packing for Cabo, I ended up getting side tracked and started reorganizing my closet space. I couldn't find the scarf that I wanted to bring with me, so I ended up going through my scarf drawer. Here are some photos of my ever growing scarf collection, minus my winter/chunky scarfs.
My love for scarfs started when I was about 12 or 13. I remember staying with Grandma for a few days durning the summer, and I told her that I was on a mission to find a long, thin, floral scarf. I remember shopping everyday with her in search of this scarf that I envisioned.  We finally found something similar to what I was looking for near the end of my stay. I loved that scarf.

On another note, I've been lucky enough to have been awarded the Stylish Blogger award again, courtesy of the always stylish and witty, Sands of Sealverland. As well, the lovely and sophisticated Monica, of Fressia has graciously awarded me the One Lovely Blog award. I want to thank both of these girls from the bottom of my heart. Appreciation from other bloggers means the world to me. Thank you Thank you! I've been meaning to get to this post for ages, but as most of you know, it has been a hectic few months for me. Legally Blonde

I'm back from Cabo San Lucas a married woman! I'm so happy. The wedding day was perfect. I have a lot of photos to sort through, and I will be sharing them with all of you soon! For now I have these shots from the Friday February 18th before we left for Cabo. Myself, my brothers girlfriend and my cousin went out to see Legally Blonde the musical. It was a pretty spectacular show, and really peppy. We all laughed a lot. The songs were really cute, and it followed the movie pretty closely. The theatre erupted with excitement when it was time for the "bend and snap". It was a great idea for a girls night out before leaving for Cabo.

Fashion Industry Mixer

Last Wednesday I attended a Fashion Industry Mixer held at the Gerry Thomas Gallery. It was a great opportunity to network with other Calgarians who enjoy fashion and art. I met some amazing people, and also got to reconnect with some of the other Calgary bloggers I met back in December. Here are some photos I rounded up from the evening.
