Radium Hot Springs

posted on: Monday, June 27, 2011

When JP got home from work on Friday we picked up my brother and headed out of town to meet up with my parents and little sister in Radium Hot Springs, BC. I love living so close to the mountains and how easy it is to escape city life for a weekend. There is just something about driving out of the city and seeing the Rocky Mountain Range in the distance. It's like a huge weight is lifted and you can breath for the first time. The view is exhilarating, and I'll never tire of it.

"The forest that surrounds you here at Hector Gorge, the river below, the Rocky Mountains all around - this is wilderness. Without the road behind you, it would take several days to reach the nearest town. Perhaps you would not survive the journey. Like the first explorers - Simpson, Sinclair Hector - you would have rivers and canyons to cross, and what you see in front of you would be an unknown, perhaps desolate barrier."

Ok, so this post is a couple days late, but these photos were taken on the summer solstice. It was seriously the perfect day weather-wise for the first day of summer. Summer is absolutely my favourite time of year.

I'm so disappointed that I'm going to be missing out on Cirque Du Manique this weekend. Manokin Design will be previewing their fall collection with an amazing carnival themed show complete with cotton candy, bearded ladies, fortune tellers and more!! It sounds like it's going to be quite the show. Although I'm disappointed that I'll be missing out, I'm still looking forward to the weekend because JP and I are escaping to Radium Hot Springs. I can't wait for the mountain air and the natural springs.

PARK Designer Sample Sale

Saturday was the PARK Designer Sample Sale. KD and I headed down to the Gerry Thomas Gallery together and met up with fellow bloggers Miranda, Rupi and Vincent. There were so many tempting pieces by some very talented local designers including, Caitlin Power, Jalu, Laura Presber, and Paul Hardy. I snagged myself a Jalu hooded boat neck shirt named Akita, and a wood Anne B. Accessories bracelet

After shopping with my fellow bloggers for literally hours, Miranda, Corinne, KD and I headed out to grab something to eat. We tried out a little Korean BBQ place near the gallery. I absolutely love meeting up with these girls at fashion events, and I cannot wait for the next PARK event coming up in August!!!

Thanks dad for always being there. For teaching me everything from skiing and skating to math and science. For being the only one who will go on the crazy roller-coasters and amusement park rides with me. For always believing in me and encouraging me to follow my dreams.

One Year!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLOG!
Today is my blogs ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!! I can't believe that I've already been blogging for one year. It was fitting that my anniversary post outfit photos were taken in the rain because in my first outfit post it was also raining.

So far, blogging has taken me on a journey that I could not have imagined. I've met so many amazing people in the blogosphere and in real life that I wouldn't have met otherwise. Blogging has also opened up the local Calgary fashion world to me and has allowed me to share it with all of you. I can't wait to see what my next year in blogging will bring.
My mom gave me some of my old journals the other day from when I was 12 years old. I thought I would share some quotes that I thought were kind of funny.

"Yesterday I went shopping for FIVE HOURS! All I bought was some perfume, popcorn and a mother's day present"

"Over the weekend my cousin came over and we went SHOPPING! My cousin fell in love with this pretty scarf, and we figured out how to wear it 10 different ways!"

"I finally found my green pen. It was in my backpack. My backpack is kind of like my room. A total Mess. Daisy says she can explore my room forever. She could probably explore my backpack forever too!"

"Nothing special happened today. Practically the same as yesterday. Except I learned how to juggle"

After looking back on these old journals I feel like my blog is somewhat of an extension of those journals. I love that with blogging though there are photos to help tell the story, and a community of readers to interact with.
