Welcome to the North

Sunday was so busy!! JP had to get ready to leave for Saskatchewan and we needed to get his work van from the shop, so we left our place early (well, early for me on a Sunday) to grab it. We came back home and JP made us Sunday morning breakfast. We opted for bacon and eggs instead of pancakes this time. After that he headed to band practice and I met up with a friend at hot yoga. I hadn't gone in over a month and nearly died! Plus I don't think bacon is the best choice of food right before stretching and balancing in a sauna-like room. I definitely sat most of the class out, but I'm still feeling it today! lol. JP and I got home from yoga and band practice around the same time. He left for work  and I met up with one of my best friends, Simran. She just got back for the holidays from Australia where she's going to med school. I'm so proud of her!! She's my friend that took photo developing with me in high school, so we had to go out on a photo adventure like old time together!!

Stylish Blogger

posted on: Sunday, November 28, 2010

Hi Guys!! I am so excited! Monica of Freesia, and Cee of Coco & Vera both awarded me the Stylish Blogger Award! Monica is not only fashionable and chic, but is also a talented artist, and Cee has a wonderful, classic sense of style. Both of these ladies are inspirational, and their blogs are definitely worth checking out!! Thank you so much Monica and Cee. I feel very honoured to have been chosen by the both of you.

Stylish Blogger x2
So the rules of accepting this award are that I must thank the blogger(s) that gave me the award, I have to reveal seven facts about myself, and pass on the award to seven more stylish blogger.

Here are the facts:
  1. I can't stop listening to Minus the Bear. I just don't seem to ever get sick of them. I can listen to them on repeat everyday :)
  2. JP and I met lifeguarding. We were friends for a year before we started dating.
  3. I learned how to develop film in a dark room when I was 16. One of my best friends and I were in a photography class in high school. It was just the two of us. We would take black and white film photos on our free time, and then develop them at school on fridays. We only have a handful of photos though. We messed up on the developing process so many times.
  4. I figure skated competitively until I was 13 years old.
  5. I have two brothers and a sister.
  6. I have a BA in Psychology and hope to do a masters and a Ph.D someday.
  7. I love Sunday morning breakfast. JP always makes the best pancakes and coffee.
Now to pass on the award to seven stylish bloggers:

Tea and Style

posted on: Wednesday, November 24, 2010

The last two weeks I've dressed in my warmest, comfiest clothing. It has been freezing cold here. A couple days ago it dropped below -30 degrees Celsius!

This leopard blanket is sooo soft and comfy. I love cuddling up in a cozy sweater with my super soft leopard blanket, a good book or a magazine,  and turning some tunes on. That is exactly what I'm doing right now. I'm listening to the Black Keys, and flipping through Lauren Conrad's book, Style. JP is at band practice right now, and I'm just waiting for him to get home so we can spend some time together. He just found out yesterday that he will be working in north Saskatchewan all of next week. He's leaving on Sunday afternoon and getting back on Saturday afternoon. I'm going to miss him so much!! I hate being apart.

Touch of Mink

So I picked up this Sally Hanson nail polish the other day called Touch of Mink. I really like the colour. I never thought that I would like brown nail polish. At first I was unsure of the brush because it is really wide and I hadn't seen a brush like it, but I ended up loving it because it covers the nail in one swipe. It definitely cut down the time it takes to paint nails.

I'm really getting back into nail polish. When I was in Jr. High I had a box full of nail polish in every colour you could imagine. I even had a cute sparkly one that had little red heart in it that I would wear on Valentines Day. lol. I remember bringing my box of nail polish camping in the summer, meeting up with some of my camping friends ( we went to the same camp ground every year for a week or two) who were also nail polish fanatics, and sitting on the beach painting each others nails.

Baby It's Cold Outside

These photos are old. They were taken in mine and JP's old apartment. I had just gotten these jeggings and was in love. So comfy<3

Today has been a pretty lazy day. I went with my mom to her chiropractor because the roads are really bad right now and she didn't want to drive alone. Afterwards we grabbed a coffee and just visited at my parents house. JP is over at a friends house watching the hockey game. I didn't feel like venturing out into the cold so I stayed in and watched Twilight with some ginger and peppermint tea. When it's cold out I don't feel like going anywhere. All I want to do is curl up on the couch with some tea.

I just finished reading Unbearable Lightness by Portia de Rossi. I actually finished most of the book in a day. It was really good. It goes through her struggles with the Hollywood scene and the pressure she felt to be thin and to diet. Although it is her story of anorexia and bulimia, she says it is written for anyone who has ever been on a diet. I think it is worth reading even for people who haven't struggled with dieting. There are so many great lessons to be learned from her book about accepting who we are and loving ourselves.

Hot Chocolate

posted on: Thursday, November 18, 2010

These photos are from a couple weeks ago. Ashley of Opheliac and I decided to get together and catch a couple sunset photos while we caught up. We ended up changing our plans to chatting over a cup of hot chocolate because we forgot about daylight savings time and completely missed the sunset.
I'm not sure if I've ever mention this in previous posts, but Ashley is one of my bridesmaids for mine and JP's wedding in Cabo. We have known each other since Jr. High School.

So, I ended up taking off the rest of the week from work. I wasn't ready to go back. I tried Monday and half of Wednesday but was still in pain. Hopefully next week I will be feeling a little more recovered from surgery. I thought that I was feeling really good, but I had hardly left the house and when I did I was sitting in a coffee shop, or relaxing at my parents house.

Right now I'm just relaxing on the couch, watching CMT old school music videos. Not sure why... I'm not really a country music fan, but these olds songs bring back good memories of my childhood.

Polar Bears

posted on: Wednesday, November 17, 2010

Last week I went to watch my little sister's ringette game. Her team is called the Polar Bears and they have a stuffed toy polar bear as their team mascot. They are so cute!! These are just a few shots of the game. The one thing I forgot was how freeeeezing cold arenas are! I had my winter coat, scarf, mitts, and boots on and I was dying. I had to get a hot chocolate to warm me up. Next time I go I'll have to remember to bring blankets.

I also snapped a couple of photos of the snow from my balcony. It's supposed to continue to snow all week. I hate how winter always comes out of nowhere. Last week was so warm!!!

Snowy Morning

Today turned out to be pretty brutal. My car is in the shop right now, so I had to leave for work extra early to get a ride from JP to the train station. It also snowed over 10cm last night, so it was icy and cold out this morning. I got everything ready last night so that I wouldn't hold JP up and we could leave on time. We were just about to leave the door when I realized my purse was leaking! I didn't tighten the lid on my juice and it was pouring into my bag!! I quickly emptied out everything and switched purses. We dashed out the door and got into JP's work van. I then realized that I didn't have my swipe card for work! It was still in my other purse. I ran back inside to grab it. While I was running back outside and across the street to JP's van I slid on the ice, tripped on the curb and face planted into a snow drift and hit my head! UUUGGH! I had snow down my pants, snow in my hair, snow in my boots. I started to cry. I walked over to JP and told him that I was going back to bed. Somehow, even though I managed not to hit my nose I ended up with an intense headache/nose-ache. I am seriously so clumsy. It was my second day back at work after my recovery and I had to slip/trip and hit my head. Wow.

Well, tomorrow is another day. Hope it goes better than today.

These photos are from a quick walk to Tim Hortons on the weekend to grab a coffee.

Visit From Atltanta

posted on: Monday, November 8, 2010

Today was so great! My aunt is visiting from Atlanta, so I spent most of the day with my Mom and Aunt catching up. We went for lunch, then picked up my little sister from school. After that we went shopping and I bought some new make-up brushes, blush, bronzer, and nail polish. Now I'm relaxing with a peppermint and ginger tea watching last weeks episode of The Vampire Diaries. I LOVE this show!!

Station to Station

posted on: Saturday, November 6, 2010

Ashley of Opheliac and I took these photos a couple of weeks ago. It was a Sunday and the boys were cooking us dinner and watching the football game, so we decided to get some outfit shots in before the sun set.

Some one commented in this post asking if these Aldo shoes are comfy. They are surprisingly comfy despite their height, but they do have a narrow heal so I do find them difficult to walk in when I'm not on a flat surface. I really struggled walking along the train tracks because of the rocks for these photos! In the first photo I was sweeping the rocks of the rails so I could keep my footing. Luckily, later down the tracks we found a broom!

Sun is Shining

posted on: Thursday, November 4, 2010

I finally felt well enough to venture outside today! And I am so happy that I did because it was gorgeous out! The weather was perfect. I didn't even have to wear a jacket. I took a little walk up the street to Tim Hortons, bought a hot chocolate and sat outside enjoying the sun. Afterwards I walked over to a nearby hair salon and booked myself in for a trim tomorrow afternoon. I'm so excited that I'm starting to feel less nauseous and dizzy. I was also excited that I felt like wearing something other that baggy button up shirts and sweatpants. My little adventure wore me out though, and I am in need of a little nap. It's so funny that a little walk down the street can tire me out, but I guess my body is still recovering. Sleep Sleep Sleep.

Blind Beggar

posted on: Wednesday, November 3, 2010

I wanted to wait to post these pictures until someone posted some actual pictures of JP and the guys playing on facebook, but I haven't seen any yet. I'm such a bad blogger and girlfriend! No real outfit pictures and no pictures of the band! Just photos of me and my friends.

JP's band, No Days, had a really good turn out for their first show. The pub where they played, The Blind Beggar, was packed! I'm glad we got there early because the tables filled up fast and a lot of people had to stand.

My outfit for the show was a little black t-shirt dress, leopard leggings, tan leather jacket, and my Aldo wedges.

I can't believe it's Wednesday already! I'm going a little stir crazy, and can't wait to get out of the house. I've been patiently sitting at home, taking it easy, waiting to heal from surgery. I ended up having to go to my family doctor to get some more pain medication because I felt like my face was going to explode. Saturday, Sunday and Monday were spend laying totally still in one spot all day, trying to sleep off the nauseousness from the pain. Now I'm back on the painkillers and the nauseousness is gone, but I'm too dizzy and loopy to leave the house. It's also pretty awkward going out in public with bruises on your face. I'm just hoping that I feel decent enough by the weekend to visit with my aunt. She lives in Atlanta and I miss her like crazy!! Can't wait to see her <3

Little Blue Dress

posted on: Tuesday, November 2, 2010

A couple of months ago my little sister and I decided to go through old photo albums to find pictures from when I was little for mine and JP's wedding slideshow. This was one of the photos we chose.

This is me and one of my brothers, and my moms cat Simba outside of my Grandma's house.. I was obsessed with this dress. I would try to wear it everyday. Blue was my favourite colour, and this was the perfect twirling dress.
